Although in the beginning stages of fundraising and planning, we are gaining momentum as we educate community-driven organizations regarding the human trafficking issue in Rochester, NY and present the School's goals and needs. Here are some of the great strides we've made since this spring, giving us confidence we will open our doors to students the autumn of 2022.
we officially launched our website
our director, Julie joined RRCAHT - they have graciously offered to provide education/ awareness training for staff and students
Julie received PBA Lifetime Member Scholarship, to put toward the School's needs
Julie earned her cosmetology teaching certification through NYS - congratulations, Julie!
the School received donated curriculum
the School received a letter of support from Brightstar Community, which will help the School as we apply for grants and seek additional funding
the School received a letter of support from Angels of Mercy, which will likewise help to gain further funding
Miss Julie's Hair Studio hosted a Salon Day as a way to minister to local survivors of human trafficking
the School received a letter of support from Center for Youth, to help to gain funding
Goldwell has officially offered the School a sponsorship, committing to equip the school with sinks, chairs, student stations, and color - this is obviously huge, and we are so grateful for their support!
Looking forward, we are assembling a fundraising committee to meet the School's financial needs, and continuing the search for an appropriate building. Additionally, we are excited to have secured the services of a talented grant writer. We continue to be blown away by the aid we have received from so many different people and organizations, particularly in so short a time frame.
