$8,000 ESL Grant for Salon Awareness Training

We are thrilled to announce that Miss Julie's School of Beauty has received an $8,000 grant toward human trafficking awareness training in salons located in the Greater Rochester Area. This enables Miss Julie’s School of Beauty to train 100 salon professionals at no cost to them over the next six months, equipping them to recognize and combat sex trafficking in the community.

We are extremely grateful for ESL’s generous contribution as the beauty school advances anti-trafficking work in Rochester! Since September 2022, we've has held four trainings in partnership with both Goldwell NY and Cameron Community Ministries. (Check the home page for upcoming trainings, or to request a training at your salon, please contact us!)

Our course equips caring people in the beauty industry to empower victims, supporting them on their road to freedom. The information has been compiled through many hours of research, combined knowledge of the beauty industry and sex trafficking, as well as the input of human trafficking experts from a variety of fields.

The training lays a foundational understanding of human/sex trafficking – both from a legal standpoint and how this type of exploitation presents itself in real life. Training goes on to cover information specific to beauticians and their important role in anti-trafficking, as well as what salons can do to safely identify and offer support to potential victims.

If you would like to help us train more professionals in the beauty industry, please consider donating - just $10 covers the printed material for a single student. You can support our work financially by clicking here.
