who we are
Miss Julie's school of beauty
is more than a cosmetology school. We're a sanctuary for courageous women, a place where survivors of human trafficking and those at risk find new growth and inner strength, blossoming into empowered beauty professionals.

Through our comprehensive therapeutic cosmetology program, we equip women with the skills and licenses they need to build a life of independence and financial security, while nurturing their healing journey. It's a new beginning, a chance to let the old fall away and embrace a future filled with confidence and self-worth.

Beautifully.
“Human trafficking robs victims of their basic human rights, and it occurs right under our noses. Many efforts have been focused in other regions of the world, but this is a major problem here at home.”

what we do
combating human trafficking with therapeutic empowerment
According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, in 2021 alone, over 10,000 cases of human trafficking were reported, involving more than 16,000 victims. Human trafficking is a pervasive issue in the United States, with thousands of individuals victimized each year.

These victims often endure horrific abuse, including physical and sexual violence, forced labor, and psychological trauma. The long-lasting effects of this exploitation can be devastating, leaving survivors struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse, and economic instability.

Miss Julie's School of Beauty offers a crucial lifeline to survivors of human trafficking. By providing comprehensive support services, including:

-
Safe and Supportive Environment: A nurturing space where survivors can heal and rebuild their lives without fear.
-
Empowering Education: Professional cosmetology training that equips survivors with marketable skills and the opportunity to achieve financial independence.
-
Comprehensive Support: Therapeutic services to address the complex needs of survivors, including trauma and mental health support.

This program empowers survivors to break free from the cycle of exploitation, reclaim their lives, and contribute positively to their communities.
"I think it is really important that we do more outreach. that we start to show these women that they are human beings and that we care what happens to them."

training
human trafficking assessment & intervention
Miss Julie's School of Beauty is committed to not only empowering survivors of human trafficking but also raising awareness within the beauty industry. Our Human Trafficking Assessment and Intervention Training program equips beauty professionals with the knowledge and tools to identify potential victims and take action.

Why Beauty Professionals?
Hair stylists, nail technicians, and other beauty professionals often have unique opportunities to observe clients closely. They may notice physical signs of abuse, such as unexplained injuries or signs of neglect. Additionally, they may pick up on behavioral cues, such as a client's reluctance to make eye contact or a lack of control over their schedule.

By participating in our training, beauty professionals can become essential allies in the fight against human trafficking. They can help identify victims, raise awareness, and ultimately contribute to breaking the cycle of exploitation.
"I really enjoyed your presentation. It was thoughtful, timely, terrifying, funny, deeply upsetting, and hopeful - and your passion is infectious. I think your message and the stories you share are so important for people to hear."
